SYNOPSIS

Revisit Hamilton High in this MUST READ for all fans of The DUFF - co-starring Bianca and Wesley.

Sonny Ardmore is an excellent liar. She lies about her dad being in prison. She lies about her mom kicking her out. And she lies about sneaking into her best friend's house every night because she has nowhere else to go.

Amy Rush might be the only person Sonny shares everything with - secrets, clothes, even a nemesis named Ryder Cross.

Ryder's the new kid at Hamilton High and everything Sonny and Amy can't stand - a prep-school snob. But Ryder has a weakness: Amy. So when Ryder emails Amy asking her out, the friends see it as a prank opportunity not to be missed.

But without meaning to, Sonny ends up talking to Ryder all night online. And to her horror, she realizes that she might actually 'like' him. Only there's one small catch: he thinks he's been talking to Amy. So Sonny comes up with an elaborate scheme to help Ryder realize that she's the girl he's really wanted all along. Can Sonny lie her way to the truth, or will all her lies end up costing her both Ryder and Amy?

The DUFF is a New York Times Bestseller and a major motion picture starring Bella Thorne, Robbie Amell, Mae Whitman and Alison Janney.

REVIEW

Sonny is a liar who has lied all of her life. Ryder is a new kid at Hamilton High who just can't stop bragging about his old school. When Sonny and Ryder meet, Sonny falls for him but Sonny's badass personality is the reason that Ryder can't be hers. Romance and drama, Sonny will do anything to to make Ryder hers, but her plan is going to cost the loss of everyone in her life.
The reason I kept reading was Sonny's excellent lying ability. To be honest, I have never ever met a liar like Sonny ever before. Sonny is a liar but she's caring, loving, funny and sarcastic too. Sonny's mom has left her alone with no sign of returning back this time and her dad's in jail, so her best friend Amy's family let her live with them, but she tells them that her mom kicked her out because she was caught smoking pot (a BIG lie!).
Keplinger has written the story so amazingly that I just couldn't put the book down. I felt myself totally connected to Sonny. Sonny's life is filled with so many ups and downs, it's crazy. I'm glad that I picked this book because I seriously enjoyed it a lot.
Being alone and broke, Sonny can't even go to college and kept lying to Amy that she has applied. Seriously Sonny is lying to her own best friend. Sonny had crossed her limits, her 'lying plan' had taken everyone away from her life and once again she was alone. It was so sad to see Sonny always searching for a job with no vision of future. Actually Ryder hates Sonny, because Sonny is a rude girl, but he likes Amy and Amy does not. Whenever Ryder sends a text, Sonny replies without permission of Amy and just beacuse of this misunderstanding Ryder starts thinking that Amy likes him too. Amy warns Sonny to spill the reality to Ryder and Sonny agrees. But she never spills anything as Ryder expresses his feelings for Sonny as soon as she was going to spill everything.. Why did you break the trust of your own best friend Sonny? When Amy learns that she never spilled anything and when the wave of text-messaging reality hits Ryder, they both leave her. Now I can't reveal the rest, but this book is highly recommended for YA contemporary readers.
Happy Reading! <3
