A wonderful new epic fantasy set in the dark heart of an academy for assassins. Destined to destroy empires, Mia Covere is only ten years old when she is given her first lesson in death.
Six years later, the child raised in shadows takes her first steps towards keeping the promise she made on the day that she lost everything.
But the chance to strike against such powerful enemies will be fleeting, so if she is to have her revenge, Mia must become a weapon without equal. She must prove herself against the deadliest of friends and enemies, and survive the tutelage of murderers, liars and demons at the heart of a murder cult.
The Red Church is no Hogwarts, but Mia is no ordinary student.
The shadows love her. And they drink her fear.

REVIEW

Before I start, let me tell you all Nevernight fans, this review is negative. I was really ashamed that I didn't end up liking it when everyone was actually loving it. I LOVE Jay Kristoff's work. His Illuminae is a masterpiece. One thing I have learned about him is that his writing style is really complicated and sometimes it becomes hard to grasp the concept. In Illuminae, the concept was complicated but I understood everything after 50%. But in Nevernight, while I tried to catch up with everything I was just lost.
This story revolves around Mia and the school where she's learning fighting and stuff. First, there was not THAT kind of romance. Like you know emotional level kind of. Second, story was extremely draggy. Third, Complicated seriously. Fourth, Mia was no doubt annoying sometimes.
But there were some good points too like how original the concept was Oh Lord. I have never read anything like it ever before! I just wished that the book was written in not such a oh so complicated way.
Overall, I won't recommend it highly but don't go on my review. Maybe you'll love it like the rest of the people. And this story is for 16+ due to some explicit content.
Happy Reading! <3
