SYNOPSIS

In the kingdom of Lovero, nine rival Families of assassins lawfully kill people for a price. As a highly skilled member of one of these powerful clans, seventeen-year-old Lea Saldana has always trusted in the strength of her Family. Until she awakens to find them murdered and her home in flames. The Da Vias, the Saldanas’ biggest enemy, must be responsible—and Lea should have seen it coming. But her secret relationship with the Da Vias’ son, Val, has clouded her otherwise killer instinct—and given the Da Vias more reason than ever to take her Family down.

Racked with guilt and shattered over Val’s probable betrayal, Lea sets out to even the score, with her heart set on retaliation and only one thought clear in her mind: make the Da Vias pay.

REVIEW

This story revolves around Lea Saldana, one of the members left in the attack by the Da Vias family. When her whole Saldana family is killed by her secret boyfriend's family, Lea takes the responsibility of taking her revenge for her family. With the help of the God Safraella, a fake clipper Les & her long forgotten uncle Marcello, she sets off to finish the Da Vias.
So now to the review! Harper Collins actually ended up sending me an ARC of Thief's Cunning which is the sequel to Assassin's Heart & I actually don't remember requesting the sequel. I had to read the sequel now but has to finish book 1 too so this made me read Assassin's Heart & oh boy it was one of a hot ride. The plot has been written so outrageously good. The writing style of the author is so amazing. The character development of Lea & Les was just bomb. The romance development was also beautifully written. Lea is such a kick-ass character. She isn't the type of girl who needs her hero with her all the time. Instead she was training Les along the journey. Marcello was an undeniably old annoying character lol :D The action in the novel is just stupendous. The pace of the book was just perfect. Not fast not slow. The world building was also pretty great and the concept was extremely unique.
Overall, a great high fantasy novel! Would definitely recommend to fantasy readers!!
Happy Reading! <3
