REVIEW

The Selection is the first book in The Selection series by Kiera Cass. This book mainly focuses on a normal teenager, America, who upon her mother and boyfriend's request unwillingly enters a contest called The Selection. America's lifestyle totally changes at the Illéa palace. Unexpectedly, America gets selected and leaving every bad memory behind, America finally enters the contest. And then the love triangle starts.... (eeeep..)
I was interested in this story because of all the hype that this series has been getting since CENTURIES, plus the cover is so attractive. The synopsis sounded so intriguing to me that I had to request it - this book was fantastic!!!!
I love dystopian books. This book is also set in the future but there are prince & princesses. The writing quality of the author is so engulfing - there were so many shocking and cliffhanger-ish scenes that you wouldn't be able to put it down.
I am in love with America's character! America is such a bold and confident character. She sacrifices for her family, enters the competition so her family can live peacefully, and starts her new life at the palace. She is just so kind to her maids, while 98% participant girls are not. She would be a perfect queen!! <3
The little bit romance between Prince Maxon and America was so cute! There was no insta love in between them. It was very sweet watching Maxon trying to win America's heart. Although America is supposed to do that 'Thing'...
The love triangle is über irritating sometimes. Maxon and America's romance was starting to become smooth, but then Aspen arrives like a surprise bomb. Please Aspen... No! Don't let her be with Aspen... *fingers crossed*
The cover is so * _ *. The font and the beautiful girl...damn it's perfect! The cover is no doubt very eye catchy.
Overall, the book was very intriguing and I can't wait to read the next book *squeals*.
What are you opinions about The Selection? Are you team Maxon or team Aspen?
Happy Reading!  <3
