SYNOPSIS

Nineteen-year-old detective Rose Hansen has a secret. She can read a person’s intentions by touching their hands and that’s the least strange thing about her.

Only one person knows, her partner Jack.

At least that’s what she believes until a handsome, shirtless stranger appears on her doorstep in small town Blush Valley, California. He leaves her an envelope, but not before articulating his disappointment in her for ignoring her powers. The contents send Rose on a path toward the supernatural, solving her parents’ murders, and possibly even saving the world.

Aside from that, Rose and her partner have two important cases they’re working. The first involves a missing child. The other is the death of a stripper. Once it is ruled a serial killing, a very hot FBI agent from L.A. shows up and is given lead. To make matters worse, he asks her to go undercover. As a stripper. And that is just the beginning of her troubles...

REVIEW

The beginning is very interesting, starting with Kindred Demon kidnapping a girl. We learn a little bit about Kindred Demon and his dirty mind. RaShelle's writing style is very descriptive especially when she is describing a suspenseful scene. Her writing style is very nice. This novel is for NA and YA readers, but I think it is more suitable for adult readers. RaShelle has written the novel in an 'adult crime novel' way.
This book has loads of similarities to many crime novels that I have ever read, so Undercover Empath was not a unique read to me. Before reading some really exciting murder case, but I found this book similar to some books. A serial killer, parents killing their own child, dirtiness? Same old things! I don't know but I found this book relatable to Rod Kierkegaard & J.R. Rain's Moon Bayou. As mentioned, the writing style is ver good but the weak point is the story-line.
The plot was not interesting. Another thing is that the story was very short!!! The plot was ok, but not unputdownable. It doesn't have that 'flipping the pages madly' quality. It doesn't make you want to pull an all-nighter. Nothing special. I read this book with a 'duh' expression all the time so I totally didn't enjoy it. But no doubt, the cover is so pretty.
Only the weak point is the plot. I didn't really like the plot. The story was so much short.
Overall, not a bad start but I wanted the book to be unputdownable. I might be interesting in the next book. Hopefully there won't be a weak story-line in the next book.
Happy Reading! <3
